Here, I am about to launch a Graupner "Bussard", 2 meter glider with
geared Speed 500 motor, 7 X 1.7 AH cells. The X440 glider (from SR
Batteries) lies in wait.
This wonderful field has since been turned into a golf course.
If the golfers hadn't stolen it, I suppose the soccer players
would have.

My Impuls (8 foot wingspan) glider. It has an Aveox brushless
motor which draws 40 amps at 10 volts, but only because I replaced
the prop with a "conservative" model. It's designed to operate
at 65 amps, which will take it straight up. (By the way, the
prop in the picture appears broken, but it's not. It's a folding
prop. When you turn off the motor, the prop folds back against
the fuselage for low drag.)
